En lieu et place de l’ancien bar/restaurant, une architecture moderne et contemporaine solidement reliée à son contexte symbolise la nouvelle image de ce lieu emblématique luxembourgeois. La nouvelle extension, qui s’articule autour de la structure existante, s’inspire de l’art japonais de l’origami. Elle ressemble à une feuille de papier pliée qui répond aux exigences du programme, tout en créant un lien avec le bâti existant et en l’ouvrant à la nature environnante. Le nouvel ouvrage se fond parfaitement dans l’environnement naturel qui l’entoure. Et pour respecter l’architecture existante, une structure légère en bois a été ajoutée et pourvue de baies vitrées s’ouvrant sur la verdure extérieure.
In place of the old bar and restaurant, modern and contemporary architecture, tightly linked to its context, reflects the new image of this iconic venue in Luxembourg. The new part, interwoven around the existing house, is inspired by the Japanese art of origami. It resembles a folded sheet of paper that answers to the program requirements, while creating a relation with the old and opening up to the natural surroundings. The new structure is integrated into the existing natural context. A light wooden structure was placed to respect the existing architecture, with glass openings towards the landscape.
